bless something small

A    P R A Y E R

by Robert Creeley

Bless
something small
but infinite
and quiet.

There are senses
make an object
in their simple
feeling for one.

We indulged in some limited edition birthday cake Oreos on Sunday. Sadly, they were quite delicious and won't last long in our cupboard.

I am quite taken by this Robert Creeley poem.  Perfect for those overwhelming times, when things seem too much.  A line to repeat in one's head:  bless something small.  As a way of bringing things back down to earth.  Back to the breath.  It would be a good mantra: breathing in: bless something small / breathing out: but infinite and quiet.

  1. Oh, Shawna....those yummy cookies! You have lots of "Good Things" as well as CalmThings to share, but alas, they are out of my reach. The poem is a reminder to us; and it reminds me of what Georgia O'Keefe said about a flower being so small:“Nobody sees a flower really; it is so small. We haven't time, and to see takes time". I always make time to enjoy your blog.
    Thanks
