experiment of green

A little Madness in the Spring

By Emily Dickinson

A little Madness in the Spring
Is wholesome even for the King,
But God be with the Clown--

Who ponders this tremendous scene--
This whole Experiment of Green--
As if it were his own!

We've yet to be experimented upon - the scene here is still waiting on green. When I woke up this morning there was white stuff on the lawn, a downpour of sleet, which turned into rain, at least. Yesterday melted the snow you'll see in these photos taken on Saturday. Difficult to find, yes, but this late season is not without a decrepit beauty - maybe it's beauty because we know the green madness must soon follow.

Do you remember the snowy paths in the trees from last week? Here they are again - and of course while I was taking these photos I lost track of the dog who took his first bath of the season - he can't resist the water. And I should know better as he'll dive into the smallest puddle with such glee. Labs are water dogs - what do I expect, right?

Arriving back home - the hydrangea tree we planted last year - hoping it comes to life again soon...
